I have always been partial to these Brocault open escapment clocks. I don't currently have one in my collection; I am waiting to find one where the price is right. :-)
I recently put new pallets in one for a customer. The job was not nearly as ticklish as I expected.
I have a nearly identical clock at home that belonged to my Swedish grandparents. Will check to see if it has similar initials on the face. My wager is yes. what have you found out about your clock?
I think I have found that is an Ansonia clock, but have no idea what its value is...
You are correct as to the brand. Capital A, enclosed in a square, with the letter on the diagonal, and the whole turned so that the A is vertical is definitely an Ansonia trademark. Ansonia open escapement models were made for quit a lohng period, from about 1890 until the onset of WW II, with a short hiatus during WW I, when brass was a scarce war material.
The best way to determine value is to keep watching the auctions, waiting until one of the same style comes up.
Thank you for the info....I live in a small rural WI area and have no antique appraisers within range...will keep my eyes open on auctions..
