I have this Illinois pocket watch that belongs to my father. He has been collecting them from yard sales and thrift stores for a few years now. We cannot find much if any information on this one. The serial number on the movement is: 4394032. I'm assuming the year to be 1923, but also read that it could be off by as much as 6 years. It is a really nice watch and still runs most of the time, but needs to be serviced. I would appreciate any help or information on the watch like a model name or number, year, anything special about the movement, or model. basically any info. The watch movement says: Illinois Watch Co. Springfield,USA. Time King. Adjusted 3 Positions. 4394032. 21 Jewels. I posted some pics as well. Thanks, Mike
What you have is an open face, size 16 , model 8, Illinois "Time King" grade pocket watch. It has 21 jewels, a double roller, and is adjusted to 3 positions. Back in the day it would have been approved for "lightrail" service-- meaning trolleys, street cars, the subway... You get the idea. While it's not a full blown "railroad watch" it is a nice high grade example. Get it cleaned and carry it! Thanks for sharing!!
