    1939 was the first year for the Mercury line. Ford debuted it at the worls fair that year. These dime banks were given out at the Ford pavillion.

      .....Grey Mercury model from Dealer / Worlds Fair 1939 / 1940....I have one exactly the same as in {gvgordon's} photo on display. A Ford Dealer salesman handed it to me as older brother purchased a car....71 years ago.
