I believe it to be made of some kind of clay but it's a really smooth kind IF that's what it is. That's what it feels like, but looks very old leather or something pliable like it.The little fringes on the tarpe or whatever the covering on the boat it has a few pieces that came off and so I used my fingernail to see how hard it is and it snaped in two. It's something that can be Carved though because I tried that with my nail too, after I got past the harden outer part it was kind of soft. The measurement are in the picture. They are a little fuzzy like leather when it gets old and damp but doesn't smell like leather or Anything at all. no signture that I can see.
