I have an oak box I purchased and am trying to find out what it is. Photos of the box are attached. The only marking on the box is on the top and it reads: Patented 1880 February 10. I have only found one other box like this online and the former owner called it a "trinket box" which seemed to be pretty generic. That box did not have the felt liner inside like mine does. I am trying to find out what this item is and an approximate value if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Any help would be appreciated.

I have this box. It was passed down from generations of seamstresses in my family. I can't say for sure what the original use was but as far back as the 1950's it held sewing machine tools and attachments. I'd like to know the value as well!
Bingo, As soon as U said seamstresses TBoBama, I said yes thats it.... My Grandma had one too.... sorry don't know value.....
It is a Singer "puzzle box" for attachments http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-1889-Wood-Sewing-Puzzle-Box-Attachments-/130469022148?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e608f49c4.
