I have an oak box I purchased and am trying to find out what it is. Photos of the box are attached. The only marking on the box is on the top and it reads: Patented 1880 February 10. I have only found one other box like this online and the former owner called it a "trinket box" which seemed to be pretty generic. That box did not have the felt liner inside like mine does. I am trying to find out what this item is and an approximate value if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.

I have this box. It was passed down from generations of seamstresses in my family. I can't say for sure what the original use was but as far back as the 1950's it held sewing machine tools and attachments. I'd like to know the value as well!
