This is my first post I've collected bottles, jugs and advertistments for many years with no problems finding history or research on most items, but now I could use some help.
I have spent a lot of time trying to find out some history about this COCO COLA hutch, I know some of the history from several coca cola books, the Chattanooga Coca cola company will not talk about the COCO cola mistake as if it never happened so this is where Iam . Can anyone shed some light on this item?
I would appreciate any help as when made, number of bottles made before they realized the mistake . All imformation would be appreciated . thanks
Most of these hutches are found in Alabama and Mississippi, so the thought is that the Chattanooga bottler, John Lupton, (the first "official"coke bottler in 1899) got rid of these bottles to another bottler, so he could get into one with the correct spelling. The correct bottle looks exactly the same. (but spelled correctly). There probably is no way to ever know for sure.
There was also a later competitor to coke, spelled Co-Co-Cola, but it was short lived, and only showed up after Coca-Cola was successful to confuse people. I believe it is very doubtful that this bottle would be for that drink.
cool bottle the hutchinson bottles are way more rare in canada compared to the states. enjoy that bottle alot of people in canada would love to get their hands on that.
