I have a very unusual treadle sewing machine. It's a Garcia name on it and in very good condition. I think it's probably from the 1800's, but not sure. I am unable to find out anything about the Garcia make, in particular this machine. If anyone has any information at all, I would appreciate you letting me know.
    Thank You

Thank you for the response. Here are some other pics and a bit more information.
Garcia Coffin Top Sewing Machine No. S48728. The plate says Machine à caudre and Garcia.

Garcia isn't a maker, it's a badged name - i.e. a reseller's brand. The actual machine isn't clear in your photos, if you wanted to post some clearer close ups of the machine head, and describe any markings, it may be possible to identify a maker.

Machine a coudre is French for Sewing Machine. I can't identify the maker though. Are there any imprints under the machine? Do you know anything about it's history ?

Unfortunately there is no other markings or imprints. I got it at an auction, so I don't have any history on it.
      Thanks for the lead.

I don't know anything about the machine, but did find an ad for it here :

and something about a patent for one in '49 here:

Don't know if this helps you in any way, but thought I'd post these for you. Hope you get your mystery solved!

Thanks for the extra pics, sorry I missed them earlier. It's not a Singer, it's a German made machine that was sold by a company called Garcia, in France or in a French speaking country. The poster linked by ChinaBlue is a good reference point.

Hello, it could be a Belgian machine.I found an old advertising poster with addresses in Belgium : http://www.delcampe.net/page/item/id,53756253,var,Naaimachine-Machine-a-Coudre-Garcia-Royal-Garcia-Gent,language,F.html
