This clock is strange, gaudy, weird and beautiful all at the same time (no pun intended). My neighbor was consolidating cleaning a few things out and this belonged to her mother. It is one of the first battery powered clocks and it goes back to the 50,s. I did some research on battery powered clocks and when they arrived in our history, I didn't realise that they went all the way back to the 50s. I asked my friend how far back she remembered this clock and she said the 50s. So the research proved it. It comes out of NewYork City and the company still operates in another state now. I paid her 25.00 for the clock because I truely knew nothing about it and I still don't. Not this particular one. I noticed that one of my commentors have what looks like a Empire clock for their profile. Heres a neat story to add. This clock comes with 2 plaques. I only bought the clock alone from my friend. Weeks later I went to a flea market and looked in a booth an there it was one plaque! I could only laugh and my mother thought it was a funny thing too, there we both stood laughing and people looking. This was bought for my mother as she lives with me and she liked it. Now if we can only find the other plaque our mission will be complete. Its fur, its brass and the godey decorations are hard plastic. If anyones seen this clock please comment i'd like to learn more about it. It keeps perfect time as well. Thankyou for looking

How did you research for them? I found all 3 pieces for another design of the same Empire Art Product plaques but I can't find any information about it. I went to an antique store and the guy told me: "that's not old enough for us..." (honestly he didn't even grab it, he gave a quick look and didn't even read what was on it). I read that Fragonard was a famous French artist in the 1700', and the porcelain medallions on the plaques are his. But as I couldn't find any more information about this collection I can't tell if they're original pieces, or copies. I don't give up and keep on looking since Internet updates every day.
I hope you can find the piece you're looking for!

Thankyou for your comment. Sorry for not commenting sooner. I just had a septoplasty (nose job) LOL. Only so I could breath though, i havn't been with it lately. Like yourself to research this peice I could only look up the company on the back of the clock that made it. Honestly some antique stores won't consider these peices if they don't come from the 1800's LOL. But when it comes to rarity and value age isn't always a factor. These are Fragonard but only prints. The pictures consists of tiney little dots which indicates a print. The world went crazy with Godey prints from the 40s and up. I'm not a huge fan but at the same time a little Fragonard in ever collection is good. We have one little wall dedicated to it and a little goes a long way! I have to love my fuzzy weird clock! I collect a lot of occupied Japan colonial peices and fine porcelain peices as well. The clock an plaques are still a little allusive though. They are rare an like yourself I saw another Empire design on ebay an it wasnt cheap. Thankyou for your interest in it! maybe we'll find someone who knows about it. For now all I have is the history of it. Thanks for stopping by.
