This reel came out of New York with the name One Line to it, but it is a Fre-Line reel. Most Fre-Line reels I've seen are red and the line comes out of the side of the reel, but this one comes out the front. The only markings on the front cover are "Fre-Line" and markings on the back of the reel are "Fre-Line" and "Trade Mark". There is no model number on the reel. The nut holding the handle in place I'm sure is not the right one, but I'm pretty sure the handle is correct. A friend told me the Fre-Line was manufactured in Boulder, Colorado. If anyone can pass any information on about this reel I would very much appreciate it. Thank You......

Have fond memories of this reel. It was one of my first reels. Given to me my one of my dear friends who caught his hare of trout with it on the western slopes of Colorado near Salida.
They don't make them like that one anymore.

New here, still may be of some help.
Made in 1950 or 1951. I think you have the early version. The other had the drag on it's handle, w/ rt side hole capped off, re using frames in stock. Another change was a plastic pressure push button for spool friction, operating like a thumbing hole on cfsp of this era. The handle cap nut might be right, although different from the other version it's the same used on Humpal reels(1952-1954) built by an ex Fre-Line employee Wilard Humpal. Yours is missing a plastic toggle on the bottom of body, this was for a clicker. Ben Reimers worked for Good-all reels then left to start Fre-Line and soon sold it to Wright & McGill in 1951-52.
