My Mom found this vase at an auction. It literally was on the table of cast-offs i.e. items that nobody bid on and there were about five people left bidding. They were auctioning "choice" for $1 and she pointed to it and said, "get that one." Neither of us had looked at it previously. So I was pretty amazed to discover it was a signed Limoges vase. The collection it originated from belonged to an estate of an Ohio antique dealer. I have since validated that this is a legitimate Tharaud piece, probably from the 1920s.
The technique is Pat-Sur-Pate and I think this may have been intended to be a lamp base. Which would account for the hole at the bottom.
It is unglazed and I am curious if this was the intention or if this is actually an unfinished piece.
Nice buy for a dollar!
