So I was taking a walk in the woods with my brother in law and we saw a tree that had this barb wire wrapped around the bottom. It had been there for so long that the tree had grown over part of the wire. we managed to get two 4 inch long pieces.
I dont know much about barb wire but I havent seen this one in my research.
Thanks officialfuel!
no barb wire fans?
purpleisafruit6, what you have there is called Crandal "Zigzag".
It was patented by Edward M. Crandal of Chicago on November 4, 1879.
Patent # 221,158
thanks barbedwireguy! is it a hard one to find or a more common type?
thanks gotwire
purpleisafruit6, It is a more common wire. A collectors length of 18 inches is worth about a buck. It is still a very unique example of antique barbed wire. Enjoy!!!
Thanks for your very thorough info barbedwireguy!
Ill enjoy it as my first piece of antique barbed wire, found a nice spot with my other smalls
