Holtzer-Cabot Chicago desk stand, OST receiver and non-adjustable transmitter. Note the shape of the switch hook Back cup is marked "THE HOLTZER CABOT ELEC.CO. BOSTON CHICAGO". The transmitter face is marked "C" for Chicago and they where marked either "C" or "B" depending on city of manufacture.
The receiver is not a Holtzer Cabot, it is a Western Electric receiver.
I would like more information about Item made by the Holtzer Cabot company in Boston. I live in the build that was once Holtzer Cabot Eletrical Company. It would be neat to owne an item that was once made in the building, that I live in.
Jennifer, Mr Charles W Holtzer was president of Holtzer-Cabot Electric Co Brookline, Mass. from 1875 to 1892. He started in the Electric business in 1875 and about 1878 made some telephone experiments for Charles J Blake. In 1880 Mr Holtzer established the brookline telephone exchange and by 1883 had 3000 subscribers. In that same year, he relinquished his interest in the exchange. In 1889 he purchased the stock and machinery from the Charles Williams Jr Co. and manufactured telephones until 1992 when Charles Holtzer sold his interest in the Company.
