      I'm sure that its a man and woman. A lady of this time would not show stalkings in such a manor. Or maybe its a XXX piece and truly that old LOL! I think most men from that time were girly.

      I've seen a few of these set in costume and fine jewellery... It looks like it might have been hand painted, which is always more valuable. Reminds me a lot of a Limoges brooch; they frequently paint "serenading" scenes, of romantic and sometimes naughty nature. Limoges brooches I've seen have a gold stamp on the back of the porcelain, but if it is really old it could have worn off. I've seen the rope framing before on brooches from the early 1900's, seems to have been a popular style then.

      is that a name at the bottom of the womans feet? Fragonard? Because then it is definitely Limoges : )
