I found this at a garage sale and it had several stains on it.I got it to clean up with oxy clean and some warm water. The red hair is real human hair and the rabbit was on her when I found her in a box of toys.Anyone have a idea on the age of this doll?looks to be at least late 1800's?

Very hard to say how old with knowing fabric and hard to tell on photo . The dress is newer could be from yesterday not 1800's so she could have been redressed at some time . These dolls are being made today still and people put them in tea or some other dye to make them look old . Her hair is what I am wondering about . It looks more like a yarn sewn to head . She is precious but hard to date by photo if newer or antique .

Hi Johnny I sure did not intend to make you think it was not human hair I was thinking Mohair as human hair would be tricky to sew on head but at any rate she is lovely example of a homemade doll made with lots of love :-)
It is sometimes hard to tell by a photo a age of cloth
Thank you for sharing her :-)

That's ok Manikin,I did not mean to snap at you!If you look closely at the hair,it has been twisted together then sewed on.You can see strands of hair sticking out of the twisting.Thanx for your input!

Johnny the hair appears to be mohair .Which was often used on antique dolls and is still available . It would impossible to wrap human hair and sew it like your dolls, human hair had to to be weaved into a cloth wig cap and knotted a long process or just a strand glued to a small dolls head but it would look very stiff . If you want to know about her I assure you it is not human hair and if it was and doll was as old as you think hair would be so dry and stiff along with brittle it would have broke off . But again many many antique dolls had mohair and actually I prefer that to human as it is easier to make look good again when old and dirty . I posted a photo of what material of a 1890-1910 doll would look like as far as material they would have used and it would be stuffed with raw cotton or sawdust . That would be a clue to her age what she is stuffed with . Your material looks more like a fabric they did not have that far back more like a polyester ? So to date her it is a lot of factors . Hope this clears it up a bit for you :-) If not let me know ok
