This is a Gargoyal Mobiloil Display Shelf. I have been trying to research this for about six months. I have only found one reference to this cabinet. I am trying to find out what the charts were. I am not sure weather they were tin, cardboard or porcelain. If any one could provide closeups of the charts. I am wondering if anyone has seen another one of these. Also wondering if the top shelf on the sidewings was for oil bottles or round cans. The last picture is the one I found online. Any help with would be appreciated. I would like to restore this piece.
The charts were tin. Are you a member of Oldgas.com shop talk? If not i reccomend you to join. If you post this on there someone will be able to tell you all about it. The best gas&oil site out there IMO.
Thanks oilman514, I'll try that. Have you ever seen any of the charts out there?
I've seen a few of them for sale at the gas&oil shows. Someone on oldgas bought one recently i'll get the link to the pic for you.
They also had cardboard charts with a tin or porcelain frame around them
Thank you officialfuel, BigDragonDaddy, Tommy1002, EJW-54, and stonesfan1
I would say it's 1920-1929. the charts were probably tin litho's[about $750 each or the supposedly make repros] Could you measure the diameter of one of the holes in the side wings? They offered a 1 pound Mobillubricant "Handy Package" for 25 cents [these are in the 4th pic you have] [worth about $150 now], but 1 pound seems small for the pictures of the side wings.
Thanks for the info gargoyalcollector. Any ideal who would have the repo charts? I wonder how much I could spend filling this display like the forth picture?
Thanks pickrknows!
Not sure who offers them,I would say Thousands!!!
