here's my 1930's Westinghouse Coca Cola Ice Chest, it is the original paint with the trademark in the first C tail. Can't decide if I want to keep it like it is, with the original paint or revamp this sucker. What do you guys think?

Nice one!!! I'm a big fan of true to original resto, but this one isn't really worn out yet.

thanks tommy and king, I have 3 bottle machines all original, nothing I have is for sale. just hate that some idiot dripped paint on this one, I'll probably keep it original and it will go in my cave. I feel the same way about restoring, I really don't want to unless its pretty much gone. If the trademarks wasn't on the "C" of this one, I probably would restore it. Thanks for your comments

Some rubbing compound might take the paint drips off, then polishing compound, then a waxing will put a shine back on it.

Nice! I'm hopeing to find one like yours someday, I would clean and polish it up with a mild auto polish and then I would touch up the bad areas but keep as much of original paint as possible, I have auto body experience so thats what I would do. I'm not for total restoration unless it is nothing but rust or someone has repainted poorly or wrong color like the two gas pumps I'm working on. hope this helps.

Some Simple Green will loosen up the spilled paint, let it sit for a minute, then take flat razor blade and skim the surface litely, the old red paint is really tough, keep the razor flat, watch the curved edges. Takes sometime but the best way I found to get the spill paint off.

thanks guys, I was wondering how rubbing compound and auto wax would work on this old paint. The chest was kept inside most of the time, hardly no rust at all. It was owned by a rich family in middle Ky. The local funeral home director who also owned a general store, so I was told.

1939 Westinghouse is a hard machine to find nowadays. Take care of it.

I have the same cooler. If anyone is interested in buying it, we're in Rochester, NY.
