These quasi-knockoff fantasy beast were designed to cash in on the Matsers of the Universe craze that kicked off in 1982. I had a couple as a kid, including this beast, who used to play the part of Merman's steed in my old adventures.
He's supposed to have a horn on the nose of his left-hand head, but must have lost it in an epic battle at some point in the past.
I recently found this one at a toy show and traded a small box of Lego parts for him. :)
I have this exact one, except mine is white with purple. Same red eyes though.
My husband is now trying to remember some store from his childhood that I guess had rows & rows of these toys. Over the years this store has gotten bigger & filled with more toys every time I hear about it. Which is every time he sees some toy he once had. Apparently the horns on these were delicious.
