Hi everyone, I have a large collection of all types of bakelite jewellery but have been trying to find out some info for a long time on this earring/necklace set. I have never come across this type of bakelite before and never seen it in a book or in internet collections. It is apple juice bakelite (tested strongly with simichrome and hot water) embedded with tiny multi-coloured foil pieces - a little more like confetti lucite than stardust bakelite. The dangle earrings have embedded loop-style clips that appear on many European-style earrings. It came in it's "original" French jewellers box - old plain grey cardboard with a very vintage sticker on top with the name "CH.DRES" from Biarritz. If anyone has ever seen this type of bakelite before, or has any info on it, I would love to know a little more. Maybe it was just made in Europe, I think it is very beautiful....
This is so cool - I had read about this before somewhere on the internet but I have never seen it. Beautiful!
Thanks Tylula, I hope there's some more of it out there somewhere...
Thanks Valentino97 - it does look very 50s and is probably a cross-over from the confetti lucite fashion. I had forgotten some bakelite was produced later in the century. Thanks for your comment..
