These cufflinks belonged to a friend that passed away and we have no history about them.

They are stamped on the back of each: "K. Mikimoto, Toyko, the letter M, Silver" and have a pearl set on mother of pearl. They are about 5/8" wide and high, just a bit smaller than a dime.

Does anyone know about when they were made and how much they might be worth?

"K. Mikimoto" stands for Kokichi Mikimoto who was born in 1858 in Toba, Toyko. He was and is known for creating the world most perfect cultured pearls. His authentic pieces are highly valuable and treasured. The "M' stamped on the cufflink is a makers mark. Your friend has left you a wonderful piece. I would take them to a reputable jeweler and have them appraised. I hope this information helps. I am not certain of the age, but try http://www.mikimotoamerica.com and by contacting them you may be able to determine an age of the cufflinks.
