I was left these antique postal scales but I know very little about them. There are no identifying manufacturer's details. I have seen lots of antique postal scales for sale on various sites but I cannot find any that have the ink bottles on as this set does. There is slight damage to the wooden base but other than that everything is there.
Can anyone help me with any information please?
Looks to be a 20th century ink stand.
I think your search would be aided by changing your search criteria.
I'd try searching for pen or ink stand-- with additional words to narrow your searching.
While this certainly looks to be a functional scale, it appears to be more of a decorative feature for a desk top pen/ ink stand.
Additionally, online research shows that after 1 JUL 1885, the USPS used full ounces for determining mailing costs. The USPS never used 1/4 ounces for weighing/ costs. So there would be no need for "1/2" or "1/4" weights.
