Automatic Electric Strowger 11 hole dial upright desk stand. I am looking for the botton that goes in the base.

I just picked one of these up from my grandma, and the bottom is a thin wood piece, like a veneer. Held in place with about 8 small brads or nails the size of a ball point pin or so. That is what I know. The wood is cracking, so I am no going to take it apart. I am just amazed that she has this piece of American History.

Wow, yours is in magnificent shape! I just got one from my father (used to be my grandmother's, and someone else had it before her) that is well used and shows its age greatly. Its base is covered with holey felt, showing a skrew through the center of the wooden base Tim described. And mine has a coiled cord unlike yours, as well as a black plastic (Bakelite?)speaker piece. Yours is gorgeous.
