Looks like someone painted it black and added the decals, but I like it that way. I found like yours that went for about $200
thank you what color was other one
The other one would have been the color of the wood it was made from . These machines were not usually painted . Yours may have looked nice when it was first painted , but the paint does take away from it's value .
well thank you nancy where u from should i refinish it and whats the value
I think if you want to sell it let the buyer refinish it if they want to. For one thing many times these machines had a layer of veneer, making removing of the paint much harder. Unless you are good at that type of thing, it would not be worth it to pay someone to do it. Interesting history on that company. http://www.oocities.org/heartland/plains/3081/newhome.html
One pair of drawers, painted, you might get around $100
thank you vesta
I don't know much about sewing machines other than they are fairly common detracting from their value.I believe this one is a series A model.Look for a Patent # and search it.I agree this has been painted which also detracts from the value and the appearance in my opinion. These old machines are magnificent when you really check out the detail and art work.Even the way it is it is a true beauty. They also stand the test of time.Almost everyone I see still works!I think the real monetary value depends on the rarity of the cabinet itself. Also having the attachments box helps increase value.
I wish I could help more.

lundy : It would be quite a job to strip and refinish your machine . To do it right you would need to take it apart . I have one myself that someone painted . Mine is an ugly green . I bought it only for the machine and the iron stand . I have yet to try and strip it . I am not sure that I want to .
ok thanks nancy and all had a great weekend yrd sailing
P.S . The one I have has a Singer Redeye machine in it . I only paid $ 45.00 for mine .
i paid 10.00 whats a red eye
Well you did not over pay for it . A Redeye refers to the decoration on a Singer sewing machine . The decoration on the arm of the machine looks a little bit like a couple of red eyes thus the name . Some people call them RedHeads . The Redeyes are sought after by collectors of Singer machines because they are very pretty machines . I have one that is in mint condition and I just love looking at it .
thanks nancy
this is the one i have 4002291 new home
