This is an original 1939 Lithograph poster from my private collection of Magic posters. This one-sheet poster is extremely rare and is in excellent condition! It was used to promote Will Rock's 1940s-era tour of the "Thurston's Mysteries" show comprised of illusions and tricks made famous by Howard Thurston and his brother Harry. A striking image of a skeleton, ghosts, and cats in a 4 combination color of blue, green, yellow and red. This is one of my favorite posters in my collection next to my 8-sheet Carter!
Great looking lithograph! Hard to find good vintage lithograph in good condition.
Yes, I have a passion for stone lithographs. An art form that is long gone, but these posters exceed modern day printing in every way, shape, and form! Thank you for the appreciation AYCOCKONXION.
This is a terrific poster...and makes you ponder what level of fame he would have achieved had World War II not forced him to trade in his white tie and tails for a helmet and fatigues. As William George Rakauskas, the successor to the Thurston brothers spent the war stateside at Fort Leonard Wood where his army comrades were treated to a show nearly every week. After the war he reportedly went into the dry cleaning business, selling his props to Chuck Kirkham. Will Rock died in 1995 at the age of 88.
There were some great artist back then!!! That had an stunning imagination and brought it to life!!
What a great poster
