I really have no idea what this is. It isn't very often that I'm completely stumped, but I am on this. I assume it's stainless steel, but it isn't marked anywhere. The only marking is a backward 1 on the underside of one of the "petals" (?) and the flathead screw on top appears to be brass, or at least a different color from the rest of the piece. The item measures 4" across and slightly less than 2 1/4" tall. Like I said, I really have no idea even where to begin to look for information about it, so hopefully some of my fellow C.W. junkies know what it is! Any information about the maker, age, purpose, etc.. is appreciated. Thanks!

I could see why you would be stumped I don't really know either. I have a idea. Could it have been made to hold something? The upside down pic looks like the way it should be displayed. maybe it holds a glass vessel of some sort. I know thats not a definitive answer but its surely a interesting object. Sorry not sure , of what it is but if I see something along the way I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for sharing!

I was thinking the "pegs" on the legs sat in a base.Possibly an oil burner. Will a tea light candle fit under it?But I would think it would have a finial or something more decorative than a screw head.Plus the vapors would condensate and drip off the petals...well talked myself out of that idea.Don't know but I'll be watching to find out.Very interesting item .

The more I look at it and think about it, I could really see it being a stand for some glass or crystal vessel, meant to be displayed as it is in the "upside down" pic. I still haven't found anything else quite like it. It could also very well be part of a larger apparatus, such as a lamp or something else. I'll keep looking, and thanks for the comments ninamosha and BeauxPurdy! And thanks for the Likes!
