A portrait of an elegant girl on a cobalt blue background is done in enamel on copper with foil highlights. The frame is 14K yellow gold. Marked 14K signed at the backsite for Limoges. In excellent condition with no wear to note. Have you any idea of dating? The mounting let me quess the Art Deco period?

I really enjoy your posts. I sign up because I want to join in this discussion after I saw this gorgeous find! I am not an expert, but I did some research on gold before. So my words are only for reference. To my knowledge, most victorian jewelry are made in silver, 9ct gold, 15ct gold and 18ct gold, also in jet, ivory, bone and base metal etc. High end victorial jewelry are usually in 18ct and 15ct gold. As far as I know, 15ct, 12ct, and 9ct were introduced in 1854 and 12ct and 15ct were discontinued in 1932 when 14ct was introduced. So if I saw a piece marked by 14ct gold, I will guess it was produced after 1932. If someone is positive that I am wrong, please point it out.

The enamel comes from Limoges that's a fact. The mounting is, I'm almost sure, made in my country, indeed in the first of the 20th century. The 14K/ 585 has been indeed used since (I don't know exactly when it started here, I will go looking for it) the beginning of the 20th century and really typical for Holland. I think also that the enamelling is made during the end of or beginning of the 20th century.
