A portrait of an elegant girl on a cobalt blue background is done in enamel on copper with foil highlights. The frame is 14K yellow gold. Marked 14K signed at the backsite for Limoges. In excellent condition with no wear to note. Have you any idea of dating? The mounting let me quess the Art Deco period?

Hi all your jewelry is beautiful! It looks like you have a great collection. I am actually researching jewelry collecting and was hoping that you, or any other jewelry collector that sees this, could email me at jewelryresearcher@yahoo.com so I could ask you some questions about collecting.

      Researchteam,
In the first place thanks for your compliment. Yes,I think indeed I have a beautyful collection as far as this is possible with my budget an possibilities.
But please tell me,before I send you a mail, something more about yourself for example. 1. What country you are from, what kind of questions would you like to ask. Perhaps your answers are also easy to know for other collectors please answer them here please. Thanking in advance.

I am a junior in a high school in the state Wisconsin from the United States. I was hoping to ask you about 13 questions reguarding your collection and you as the collector. Here they are:
      1. Would you say you live a different lifestyle because of your collection? If yes, explain.
      2. Tell about you and your collection.
      3. What experiences have you had with your collection? (ie: making a special trip to buy a certain necklace)
      4. Do you have a strategy to collect?
      5. What advice would you give a new jewelry collector?
      6. What draws you to continue your collection?
      7. How and why did you begin to collect?
      8. How much time and effort do you put into your collection? What is the time and effort spent doing?
      9. How much has the collection cost you? (financially and other)
      10. What is the pay off?
      11. How does the collection effect you?
      12. Would you say that jewelry collections, in general, have a value on society?
      13. What is the most money you have spent on one piece?
I know these are kind of overwhelming but any answers would be much appreciated! Thank s!

Yes I also don't understand what "pay off"mean. Please explain.
    5. researchteam, 13 years ago
By "pay off" I mean, what is the reason that you collect and continue to collect? How does it improve your life?

      Hi Agram,
I really enjoy your posts. I sign up because I want to join in this discussion after I saw this gorgeous find! I am not an expert, but I did some research on gold before. So my words are only for reference. To my knowledge, most victorian jewelry are made in silver, 9ct gold, 15ct gold and 18ct gold, also in jet, ivory, bone and base metal etc. High end victorial jewelry are usually in 18ct and 15ct gold. As far as I know, 15ct, 12ct, and 9ct were introduced in 1854 and 12ct and 15ct were discontinued in 1932 when 14ct was introduced. So if I saw a piece marked by 14ct gold, I will guess it was produced after 1932. If someone is positive that I am wrong, please point it out.
I really like this one, a great treasure to keep!

MuranoGlassArt and gjd100, thank you both for your nice comment.
The enamel comes from Limoges that's a fact. The mounting is, I'm almost sure, made in my country, indeed in the first of the 20th century. The 14K/ 585 has been indeed used since (I don't know exactly when it started here, I will go looking for it) the beginning of the 20th century and really typical for Holland. I think also that the enamelling is made during the end of or beginning of the 20th century.
