I recieved this tray from a Great Aunt several years ago. I can't figure out where it came from, or whether its worth anything other than scrap silver. I can't seem to locate the silver marks to tell me anything about it. I can't tell if it's plated or not and really don't know where to take it to be looked at. Please help if you can.
matt, your tray is silverplate, not sterling. The marks are "pseudo" hallmarks designed to resemble an English sterling hallmark. I don't know who manufactured your tray.
It appears in your photo that the silverplate has worn off on the handles but I may be mistaken. The proof would be to polish them with a mild silver polish like Wrights and if they stay dark, then there is nothing you can do (replating is cost prohibitive). The tray is pretty and the dark handles wouldn't bother me (that is, if I am correct and the silver plating is worn).
Sorry to disappoint you.
