Drove to Clyde, Ohio today to pick this baby up. After 5 hrs on the road (thank you Inventor of GPS!), I spent an hour cleaning her up, and hauled down the basement by myself. I think this cooler is in pretty good shape for being 70 yrs old. I welcome any comments, critiques, information. I think I'll post a second series of pics, as I haven't seen too many detailed images of this model on the CW site. (Also, Thanks KSC for giving me the nod last week, appreciated.)

11.09.11 The recent posting by mammaw prompted me to look inside the cooler portion, and I found a raised serial number TN-40-3. I believe this signifies date manufacture March 1940 at the Cavalier facility in Chattanooga, TN. Thought it was a Westy! Nice to know it's a Cav!
HE SCOOOOOOORRRRRRRESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent!!!! I'm waiting for a response on one of these babies too, cap catcher included!!!
Thanks Tommy! It was worth the drive. Seller looked a little wistful as I pulled away, I think he was sad to see it go. He said it was from the Clyde corner store downtown, and had been stored in the cellar for years until he rescued it. I'm not going to do a thing to it. Paint's a little rough here and there, but that's OK with me. No rust in the cooler portion, so I may use it from time to time. Good luck with yours.
Thanks ThrifStoreAddice for the stopping by.
That's a sweet score Dave, looks great in the "cave" ,& nice original paint to boot!
The room is filling up quickly!!
Thanks Bernie! Yes, it's nearly filled up I think... The banner is at the framer. I think when that piece goes up, I'll give it a rest. It's been an interesting year!
It looks awsome for sure I wouldn't touch it except with a cotton diaper and Meguiar's wax, lol
That'll look awesome Dave, hope you post when done! Time to work on the christmas wish list here also, many nice things have found thier way into our "coke rooms" for sure,&half the fun is in finding these "treasures". Keep up the good work, looks awesome!
Thanks again, guys. Tommy, it's been awhile since I handled a diaper, but I was once known to be an expert. Bernie, Old St. Nick will be quite surprised to see the new decor when he pops out of the chimney down here!
Thanks Ray. Not knowing jack about coolers, your seal of approval clinched it for me. I thought the auction pictures showed this thing had potential, but when I saw it in person, so much more detail and, as you say, character. I can see me and my boy hauling this think up the stairs and out onto our deck in 9-10 years for couple graduation parties. Thanks again for your help. You're generous to share your vast experience with us.
Truly awesome! And it does look great in the Coke themed room, especially next to the flat panel TV lol. You've got an awesome piece of history, and you guys are right.. don't mess with it. It has character. Wicked cool.
Looks great!! Ive been looking for one of these, no luck yet but its high on my list.
Thanks ay and EJW.
Here's an interesting detail: When I pulled the cooler out of the back of my van and set it down on my garage floor, it was very wobbly. I laid a blanket down, tipped it on side, and looked at the casters. One was different (shorter) than the others. I thought to myself, one must have been lost and it was replaced with a similar but not exact version. Then I looked at the short caster carefully, and it had exact same markings as the other 3. It finally dawned on me that the short caster was meant to be positioned under the drain spout, to tilt it slightly in that direction so water pools at that end. I rearranged the casters accordingly (took a couple-three tries), lo' and behold, it sat flush on the floor. Little detail.
I appreciate you guys stopping by, have a nice night.

Thanks Perry! Hey, I'm just trying to keep up with you guys. Aint' easy! I told my wife a few weeks ago, I'm going to stick to small stuff, pre-50's, from now on. So she comes home from work tonight and I'm gushing over my biggest piece yet. All I could say was "well, it is pre-50's Honey!!!!" :)
