So I snuck back to the thrift where I found the Lisa Larson yesterday, hoping someone had donated a whole collection...no go. But what do wondering eyes did appear? These two beauties. Kokeshi are wooden Japanese dolls that they still make today but have been around a long time. I have been looking for these longer than the LL. Must be my week to find those elusive treasures! If anyone has any ideas on how to date these lovelies, please let me know.
You know I have to go back tomorrow!
That's it, I have to ask...is this a little hole in the wall thrift or a national chain? Love em'!
You crack me up. It is a Unique Thrift in Chicago.
I can go there ten times and find nothing, and then have a lovely little run.
UPdate: The "blonde" doll is by the artist Yamada Genji. The title of this gal is Machi Haru which means Wait a Spring. Perhaps not a great translation. Still looking for the brunette.
Love the love!
Amber Rose don't know if you ever found out about the other Kokeshi but you strikes me as being by Miyashita Hajime. I have seen very similar design and facial features by Hajime -Soul
