Picked up this storytellers doll a while back and never took the time to figure out what or where it came from. Made with real animal skins and doll is wrapped in Native American blankets, the Native American papoose carrier is large enough for a small child and the doll seems kind of small for the unit. Thinking it might of been used for storytelling? Any clue to origin?

The papoose is beautifully done . Is that beadwork on back of it ? The doll looks newer than papoose so she looks to be added later . She is not a high quality doll and I could not imagine making a wonderful finely detailed papoose for her . I don't know what the white tape is across her forhead unless it is a make shift headband . But a authentic doll would have had a beaded one. I think your papoose was for a real baby . Not sure of tribe hopefully someone out there can identify tribe by style . The beadwork in a real authentic item I did learn was alwasy perfect , They did not make mistakes . Beautiful and thanks for sharing

The doll is way to small but I am not experienced enough to tear into the piece. I tacked a little hanger thing on the back to put it on the wall, but not going to mess around with the brittle rawhide straping or those old faded blankets. I will post a floor picture to get an idea of size. Over 2 feet long and over 10 inches wide, and guessing a 9 inch doll?
