Got a large collection of this carnival glass at a moving sale and had to pack away boxes of pieces into my attic because there was so much. Took some of the larger pieces and filled a couple shelves above my fridge. Put some of the amber colour pieces down under in the dinning room buffet. The collection is all mismatched patterns with multible of the same things. Is there any logical reasoning behind collecting mismatched patterns with multibles? The lady at the sale had about 15 pieces displayed and she said "I have a whole collection in the house" you can have it all for $100.00 and thinking maybe 30 items total I said OK. Three bucks each? Then she told her husband to get the handtruck?? Sure glad I have a pickup and a large attic. Is there any logic in these collections, like whole sets of one pattern?

You'll find matched sets like this with the newer carnvial, which is what this is. These pieces were made in the 1970s, and most are Indiana's Harvest (grape) design. The only piece there that may be old "classic" carnival is the bowl with open edge and basketweave design on the outside. This piece was made by Fenton. If it is marked Fenton, it dates after the early 1970s. If it is not marked, it would date circa 1910 to 1920

1970 is fine with me; that is 40 years ago? Got four large dishpack boxes full of this glassware, only there are mismatched patterns with multible of the same things. Were these things from the dime toss at carnivals? Looking at eBay prices the larger the piece the cheeper the price; guessing more large pieces were won at the carnival games? That would exclude the cookie jars, they seem to be the highest prices.

I'm still trying to complete my gold Indiana Harvest Grape Design Set. Almost there. We are now working on the blue Indiana Harvest Design for my daughter. Lots of Fun.
