A couple weeks ago I was going through my storage and came across a box of clocks I bought at an estate sale about 30 years ago. These came from a clock shop and had claim tickets attached to them. Some were marked "throw out". This clock was so badly coroded and looked like it would be pitted. Well on a whim I decided to try to polish it. I found a very good chrome polish, and with alot of elbow grease it turned out better than I ever dreamed. The second photo shows the before.
It is marked the face made in Germany. The movement is marked Charles Baum & Co. Germany. On the back of the case it is marked CG Co. N.Y. She needs a little work, it will run for a little while and stops. I'll probably just display it the way it is. I have never had the patienc to keep all my clocks wound and running.
Great job! It's amazing how pretty chrome will clean up sometimes. I do a lot of old bicycles and I really enjoy working on all the chromed bits. Like you said, a lot of elbow grease and it turns out better than you ever dreamed of... Thanks for sharing!
