Hello, my name is Jack This Seth Thomas clock belonged to my great, great grandfather. I recently inherited it at the passing of my Dad. I cannot find a manufacturing date and was hoping someone could give me a general time frame or any advice they may have on getting an appraisal.

Looks like a pillar and scroll style clock. It could be pretty early. Is there a label inside? Are the clockworks brass or wood? Here's a good link for you:

The case with the reverse painted scene is typical of 1830s- 1850s.

      Hello Jack,
You have a Seth Thomas "Column and Splat" mantel clock. I have not been able to locate your exact model and I can't see the detail of decorative splat above the dial in your photo but here is a link to a clock circa 1835 with a wood movement which looks very similar to yours: http://www.antiqueclockspriceguide.com/clockdetails.php?clockid=31289. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply to me.....I'm going to check out the links you gave me next. The clockworks are wood and the directions inside were printed by Hudson & Skinner and and are still completely ledgible. With all the printing inside, I'm surprised there is absolutely no date or even a reference to a manufacturing date. The statement, "Warranted if well used" in the middle of the print is so funny to me.

Good luck Jack and please post your findings. That Warranty is pretty funny. I suppose they had a different way of doing things back then. Today, some folks will "well use" a product for a period of time, buy a new one and then return the used one as "defective". I've worked in retail and I know this to be true. Sort of like a "free" extended warranty...Unbelievable!

Open the door and take some pictures. We'd love to see the label and the movement!

Hi all........going to post a couple of pics from the inside. Not sure what or where the painting is supposed to be from, and the clockworks are all wood.
