    Seth Thomas Quartz
    Cat. No: 0182
    Name: Quartz Splendor
    Model No: 0182-001
    Seth Thomas
    Talley Industries Co.
    Thomaston, Conn. 06787

Made in Germany. Before me, it belonged to a grandmother of undertermined age in Florida. Now it resides in So. CA. On face of clock, it has an arc-shaped fret that has two scenes: (1) a silver smiling face; (2) Midnight-Blue Background (Sky?) with tiny silver stars. These two scenes move through the fret during the clock's 24 hour day to depict AM vs. PM.

Can you tell me the year? The original cost perhaps?

I have serched everywhere on the internet until I thought my eyeballs would fall out!

    Sincerely,
    Marci Covington

Can you track the year it was made? Perhaps a ball-park theory of original price?

the name seth thomas is often confused . the original factory was in the late 1800s to early 1900s in thomaston ct and then bought out by four other clock manufactures using the seth thomas name if your clock says 8 t and made in thomaston ct usa or plymouth ct usa you have the original seth thomas anniversary clock from the late 1800s to early 1900s - congrats . hope this helps you should be able to go from here to find more info now

Markings with zip code and Talley Industries Co. indicate 1960s at the earliest.

actually tally took over in 1968 so yours would prob be from the 70s

Evidently Talley Industries is now "Nammo AS" ( http://www.nammo.com ) a defense contractor in the business of producing lethal projectiles. I've sent an e-mail to info@nammo.com but I doubt that anyone will have the slightest clue or inclination to offer any help. If they do, I'll certainly pass it on. Regards

Here is an ebay example that sold at auction with one bidder for $65 about a week ago:

In June 2001 General Time announced that it was closing its entire operation. The Colibri Group acquired Seth Thomas. The NAWCC (the National Association of Watch and Clock collectors) purchased from Seth Thomas their collection of historical records, drawings, photographs, advertisements and documents.

I recommend going to the NAWCC web site and submitting a research request. You may need to become a member and they willl not estimate value for you.

      Hi Dan,

I made that same suggestion on another thread which was started on this same clock. The fees for a research request from the NAWCC are kind of steep for non-members so it would probably be wiser to join and then submit a request. The American Clock and Watch Museum also provides research services.
      The links are below:
      http://www.nawcc.org/index.php/reference-requests
      http://clockandwatchmuseum.webs.com/requestservices.htm

I'm pretty sure I won't hear anything back from "Nammo". They would probably just as soon test some of their product on me rather than do any free research on something produced by one of their corporate predecessors "ages" ago but I thought it was worth a "shot". :) Who knows?

Another avenue is to talk to an original owner but I think they've already tried to do so with the clock bought on eBay that Scott found.

      Personally, I like the antiques.

      Good luck Marci.
