Well, here you have it. A broken pieces of wonderful American cut glass 1920's or so. I believe this is a piece of Hawkes cut glass as I found the same pattern in a book only with etching on the bowl. In the past, glass cutters would turn broken stems into bells. Many people have been fooled over the years thinking a stem was a real cut glass bell. Bells are some what hard to find unless you buy from one of the big time cut glass dealers in the country. Luckily, this piece was only worth about $20.00. This is only the second piece of cut glass I have broken in 30 years. The other was a much bigger loss as it was a cut candlestick by Steuben.
