    I came across these in my parents house. I just thought they were interesting. My Dad was a smoker so I dont know if these were his or not. I have no idea how old they are.

      The excise sticker on the Players tin should have a date on it. Nice to see a fellow Canadian collecting & posting on CW.

      Thanks walksoftly, I looked at the excise sticker but I couldn't see a date . It says "series c" below the coat of arms and it has 6-10D and BBD below that but no date. I just came across cw website when I was trying to find out how old something are that use to belong to my parents. Now I can't get enough.

      If no tax stamp is on the tin it’s not easy. Prior to 1930 there would be an actual ink stamped date on the tax stamp. In 1930 the tax stamps started with a “Series 100” Tax Stamp. 1931 would have a “101 series” and so on till 1955 as a “Series 125”. If you want to see more of these Flat Fifties Cigarette Tins, I posted 2 “Show & Tell” on them or check out my link below;

      Thanks for the info Gerard, I had never heard the term flat fifty, I smoked during the 25 count cardboard pack time period. I like your collection on the link provided.

      Thanks Gerard! That good to know I like these old tins, and it's nice to put an age on them.
