    Hi there
    I am Firdause i.
I have this lovely bamboo brush pot in our family collection since the past more than 5 generations... i do not have an exact idea when it came in... but it is very exclusively and beautifully carved ... it has a chinese script carved on it and an artists signature on the same.

I always wondered how and where to get the brush pots dated... as the script is traditional chinese hence i haven't got the artists signature deciphered... no doubt the carver must have been a master of sorts ...
I would really appreciate if someone could throw some light on this brush pot and its maker... i shall appreciate any info given...
    Thanks
    Firdause i

I have searched the signature on your bamboo, found nothing online, however this is nicely done, I would dated this back to early 19th.

Hey John... Thanks for the effort you took... even i have been running in circles... i have even contacted people who sell bamboo worldwide to get an idea as to what species of bamboo this is... but even they were surprised to see this shape... i have also searched auction sites & there is not a single known piece of this shape & size auctioned... the only clue that i got so far is that these are imperial chinese bamboo brush pots, where they grow special bamboo shapes for a variety of reasons... i now feel it is a challenge to get to its roots... thanks anyway & i hope some chinese experts to give their expert comments...

First photo is Da Qing Qianlong - "Great Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period". The last photo seems to be a poem? Most items with Dynastic or Imperial references in the mark had their decoration added outside of China. People claim the Chinese added these marks but they were obviously busy in a cultural revolution during the mass forgeries of 1965-75 // hand carved form there is Ming, Qing, Republic, modern and after Cultural Revolution style; I am not good enough to comment. Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period marks.

Hi papa... I guess you hint that this could be a forgery? during 1965-75? please clarify if you dont mind. Thanks anyway your inputs have been most important for me...

Hi Papa, Please do reply ... i need to know the fact regarding its origin... your honesty would be appreciated, it wont offend me ... as i am keenly interested in acquiring more of these intricately carved heart shaped bamboo brush pots of these sizes [12 inches in height & 5 inches in diameter] ... maybe your guidance could help me find such works at cheap prices... thank you once again ... i anticipate your reply...
