this is something i picked up from a bootsale last week, the stall holder thought it was a piece of jade but i'm not 100% sure, i've looked on some sites and done some tests on it which so far it has passed but i'm no expert so cannot be positive.
also is it a flower or vegatable its very organic looking and has a lovely tactile feel to it.
anyone have any ideas who could of made this, does it have a value, well it only cost me 50 pence so doesn't matter if it doesn't, but i do like to buy odd things and this one does look odd.
Hello, I've seen this shape and style with chinese porcelain and plastics. I'm not sure if I've ever seen it with jade. Most likely you could go to any jewelry store and have it presidium tested. Also you could poke it with a hot needle in a hidden spot. If the needle goes through then of course it's a plastic, cellulite or resin of some type. If not then check it out further at a jewelry store. Hopefully I've been of some help.
There is no need for a needle test. Jade is a stone and weighs considerably more than the same item in plastic. I believe that it is not plastic.
If it is not plastic (or any of the resin forms) then it has a better chance at value.
Not all green stone is jade, just as all jade is not green. This could be one from a similar stone or even glass. Glass would be of little value, but jade or other stone may have good value. Remember if you are looking for a signature, that it is not likely to be in "English lettering." You give no size reference, but it looks like the detail is very good. A good buy at 50 pence.
I would agree with Kevin, its not plastic, if it is it would have to be the best fake Jade I ever seen. LOL Dave
