This one has been a puzzler for me. It is amazing engraving and is signed 'Stephen Rickard 1957'. It certainly is quality, but there the trail goes cold. I can find almost nothing about Mr Rickard apart from the fact that his pieces were given to US presidents by Harold Wilson in the 1960s. Any information would be appreciated.
Check out the Whitefriars catalogue for 1957:

If you're still out there and interested, please let me know :) He's my grandfather. Pieces were also given to the Royal Family, particularly as wedding gifts. I have quite a few myself.
Hi, I'm not sure which of my cousins has replied above, but this is indeed our grandpa. He sadly passed away 3 months ago. However his work even into his early 90's was amazing. He was commissioned for his glass for a good 50 years and his work is unique. He engraved sets of tumblers for each of the eu member states and indeed was commissioned to do work for royalty throughout the world. You are blessed to have one of his pieces yourself. Take care of it. J
Hello. If you are still out there, I have five identical rummer glasses engraved by Stephen Rickard. The engraving is a beautiful coat of arms with the words "To serve mankind" on the banner underneath.
Can anyone help me to identify and value them please.
Thank you.
Hi, feel free to send me the pictures to my hotmail jennysamuels@hotmail.com and I will see if I recognise them. He usually engraved the date on the base of the glass- so turn one upside down and see if there's a date - I wouldn't know value im afraid
