I have an early Dizzy Dean Catchers Mit....It is manufactured by the Reach-Wright company in Canada. It is in good condition. I am curious of its value and story. I am not a collector - I was cleaning my garage and found it - I remember years ago purchasing it at a garage sale. Thanks, John from Canada!
Dizzy Dean was a Pitcher ? I would want to have it verified as his signature . I guess why would he sign a catchers mitt ? Maybe if it was a no hit inning and he did it for the catcher . At any rate it would need to be authenticated and if his That would make it valuable to a collector . He pitched from 1930-47 for the cardinals. cubs and Browns .
Thanks for sharing Love it
I appreciate the comments and history. I would like to sell it and not sure of its value....is it best to put an item like this on EBay? Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!
If you list on Ebay you will have to say it is a a facsimile of his signature and Not say it is his autograph as AR8 pointed out . It is a great glove still and Bidders will set the price it is worth at auction if you list it under correct category spell everything right in heading so it can be found on a search I would think a baseball collectors would still love it . Cheers ! and good luck .Be sure and Put his name in title of auction
Very unusual piece. Never seen a catchers mitt with the Dizz on it before. Not sure of the value, but here are some thoughts. a catchers mitt of a pitcher won't bring what a glove would. Also, non USA gloves never command the prices of American gloves.
