Nab all you'd like scandi ! Glad you like him !! He was the hisser.Beautiful birds.
And thanks scandi for the love !!!!
Wow Hedge what great shots! The owl looks unreal... How beautiful.
Thanks Manikin !!
Thanks wolcott !!!! When asked who my fav artist is I ALWAYS answer Mother Nature !!! She made some beautiful creatures !!!!! They made me work for these pics though.
Yeah scandi they blend in VERY well.I walked right passed these guys (about seven very hard to count) before they flushed.Had to stay focused on their flight to see where they landed or I would never have found them again. They are slightly smaller than a Red Tail Hawk.Very impressive flyer for their size.
Been waiting for these post, love it , Congrats on the good job tracking it.
Thanks kerry !! They weren't very receptive to the blacklight though !
You're not quite right with your name, I think it's a "Great Horned Owl" and you've some Great pictures. Be careful they do like to dive ! Here is a link for you to discover them.:-)

Thanks Pop !! But these are Long Eared Owls. Here's a link.Note the facial differences and Great Horned are much larger.Their calls matched Long Ears also.Easy to confuse the two from pics but the size definitely gave them away.

Well call me Hooty, guess I learned something today...that's one of the things I like about this site, Learning.................Thanks !
Hooty I thought the same thing when I first saw them but I knew the Great Horned was bigger so I researched and found these guys...They fit the description perfectly.

Hedge, I'm amazed that you got such great shots as these gorgeous creatures are so private. You worked hard that day!! Nice work ;)
Thanks wolcott !! It was a labor of love.I was so excited at this opportunity I couldn't pass it up .My adrenaline was peaked for this hide and seek game.I usually try not to disturb critters when I see them...I observe and if the opp arises I take the pic.A day I won't soon forget !
AmberRose...These are the pics you asked for.
