It always pays to follow your gut instinct. I saw this in an antique market and just knew it had a good pedigree. The label has faded but thankfully most Murano foil labels are embossed. Borrowing the shopkeepers loupe I managed to trace the word Murano (which I knew) and SEGUSO round the edge...I thought. I think it is an awesome piece of glass and hope you enjoy it.
HOLY GRAIL...You found the Holy Grail of lamps Frankie !!!!!!!!!!!!! A Seguso uranium glass lamp with a vintage bayonet socket Sorry had to wipe the drool off my chin.WOW that is a true beauty Frankie !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for posting this ... you made my day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I say she is GORGEOUS ??!!
I shall take more photographs at the weekend and display it in its best light. The shape is delicious. Any idea of age?
You know me too well scandi ! To be honest frankie I see VERY little seguso in my neck of the woods.I have seen vases and table lighters similar to this design but I have never seen a lamp like this...If I had to guess the age I would say pre 1940...I know that doesn't tell you much but that would be my guess.
The fluidity and color of this piece is truly amazing. This style socket is an early one also.
I just did a quick search to find this lamp ... came up empty handed but I did find a few kinda similar with the same socket and they were all listed as 50s and 60s.They were nowhere near as nice as this one ! Get a pic of the plug...if it hasn't been rewired(and I suspect it hasn't) it could give an approximate age.I will keep searching.
The new pics really set this piece off frankie !! I searched last night for a couple hours couldn't find this. After work tonight I will resume search.I think this was modeled after a vase.A lot of lamp co. did that.Beautiful piece !!!!
Love it!!!!
someone had just recently (2014) posted a Art Glass lamp but I can not find it -- So I how they take a look at this one
