    Can anyone tell me what this tool was used for. It is made of iron and has a pistol and trigger. When you press the trigger the knife raises and appears that the bottom prong is flattened at the end as if used to slide underneat something.

      I think maybe it is a fireplace cleaner, you could get right up close to the brickdrop the blade and remove the ash. Al this done without making the soot fly around the room. That't my guess, mat least it makes since to me. Michael
