Here is a group of railroad police "pie plate" stars used in Chicago by various railroads during the 1920's. They are called "pie plates" because of their massive 4 1/2" size that some Chicago cops said they were like the size of metal "pie pans" or "pie plates". These old stars were used during the roaring 20's and the Capone era and are one of my personal favorites as railroad olive badge go. I have 28 different railroad "pie plates" in my collection and of course I'm always looking to add more! They were made by several Chicago badge companies, C.H. Hanson Co., Meyer-Wenthe and S.D. Childs to name a few.
