This trunk is amazing the hand forged nails with brass caps .The origional hardware is all there ,I just dont want to put it together until the decision to keep it or not is made. There is a great reward in refinishing something your way that you're going to keep for yourself. The leather handles are dry and need oil but can be a great piece. My question is will i be able to find a key for it. Where can I find some brass capped hand forged nails. What year might this trunk be? The top of this trunk has a compartment for storage underneath that opens up.

Bread style trunk (1880-1900). You can find all the parts that you need at Brettunsvillage.com. They are located in Maine and are great to deal with. I have been buying parts from them for a while and they have always been helpful.
