I have this Vintage Massingill Saferon Minature Iron. I was thinking that it was either a store sample or toy. I have not done much research on this item, but I have heard the names before. I think that I saw a full size iron by this company on Collectors Weekly in the past. The iron is solid cast iron with no damage. I would like to know the time frame of this item. I have two other irons this size, but they do not have names on them. This item is the same size although my photo's show different. It actually measures 3 inches in length.I would appreciate any comments or info on this item. Thanks for looking, Thrifty Gypsy.

I'm glad that nobody has called it a Salesman Sample since these were both used as a toy and for ironing by both the young and the old. These were used for ruffles collars or doll clothing.
I'm glad that you are taking care of it.
The newer knock offs from China made of cast iron can be used as bot as long as the paint is removed on the bottom.

I have irons that was used in china before yours and the Sadie iron was invented.

This is a really neat item. I love tired iron. Our smallest sad iron is about 4 inches. We use them for door stops. They work great......unless you forget they are there and stub your toe in the middle of the night.

Thanks fhrj2 for the love and the comment! You are right about the toe stubbers, the ones this size hurt when stepped on in the dark!!! lol. I have always loved these type irons and buy them whenever I find one, if the price is right. Thanks for stopping by, Thrifty.
