I know this is a Mobil credit card impinter with lock box and based on the date roll inside the imprinter it was used from 1957 to 1968, but I need help deteriming the value of this item, and since it was used before my time anyone care to tell me anymore info would be great! I have all the mounting brackets, the imprinter has been cleaned up and is free and in working condition. The lock box its mounted on, is plastic and has a crack down the bottom and a crack on the side but could easily be fixed and would be very hard to find once properly fixed, the actual locking side of the box has an alluminum door the lock has been remover (its just a very common lock style so a new one would be a easy replacement) someone apparenly had pryed there way in to it and broke the lock as well as bent the door up a bit but being alluminum in can be worked back into the correct shape (its mostly correct now). Please if anyone cares to shed some light on it please do! Thanks, grover2255
probably used from 1955-1966 just going by the logo,so you are correct .I'm guessing that the bottom open area held a Mobil clip board that they used to have the customer sign the slip at their car.I would say $150 and up ,neat piece!
Thanks for the comment, I'm really not sure what I will do with it but I really like this thing I just have no idea what to do with it if I do keep it.
Grover I've only seen the top imprinter part never the bottom lock box .You may have a real good thing to the right person!
Im just wondering is there much interest among mobil oil colloctors for an item like this?
I can tell you more about this than you want to know except value.....put up on e-bay at a very high reserve and see where it goes.......
again I think $150 and up ,this is just MY OPINION never seen this exact machine before ,someone wanting a period correct gas station would love it,and Mobil is a very popular brand, just look at some of the Mobil ebay listings here on CW.
please share your info "with the rest of the class" pop
O.K., these mounted to the center pole on the 'islands' and were great in good weather but had to come off and inside in the rain. There were three (3) areas under the imprinter, the longest on the bottom for the clip board made for this item that one gave to the customer to sign the bill, the area on the right held blanks and the locked area on the left is where the completed receipts went ( Just as good as money so they were locked). I ran many a credit card on on of these things.......
BTW, it would be great to find on of those clip boards (Plastic) as they were made especially for these boxes.
Thanks, for all the information everyone, if anybody has some pictures of these in use that be really cool and I love to see it! I'll give my email after some one messages me on here that they have pictures. Thanks again everyone!
Grover, did you see my reply about the farm toy parts?
I think they may also have their website back up and running.
