Found this button but don't know what it is. Can anyone help me identify it? It has U.S. at the top and ARMY at the bottom. (sorry for the picture quality)

This is a WWII Button that was worn on Denim fatigues issued by the Army. Typically made of zinc alloy and worn on a denim work shirt that usually only had 3 Buttons on the front. Hope this helps!

Thanks - I'm not a collector so I was really in the dark. Appreciate the response.

These were also issued on WWI era Army uniform pants. A large one would be the top button, and smaller ones would be the fly buttons.....

That information comes from militaryitems.com and although the Button they show is the same as the Button in question, these type of Buttons were never worn on Khaki(because they are reflective and can be seen from far away). These were ONLY worn on denim work fatigues. Men wearing work fatigues were usually peeling potatoes or digging latrine trenches, they were never worn on army uniforms.

OK, I understand. But I must say, out of all of the 76 WWI uniforms I have in my collection, they ALL have this type of button on the pants. Keep in mind, the fly buttons are not exposed, and are covered up with a flap of material. Only the top button is exposed, however it is covered by the tunic. Both summer khaki and the wool uniforms have these buttons on the fly of pants. Due to the poor condition of your button there MAY be a difference, however it looks just like regular military issue trouser buttons. Just friendly information... SEE http://www.quanonline.com

if I had a closer look to compare to the ones on my uniforms, it would help. Perhaps I am wrong though.....
