Hello,
What am I dealing with here? It has several sections on the mail drop as well. I found it about 10 years ago in an old barn. It had what looked like an auction ticket on it, but with no identifying other information. It's about 42" inches tall and looks like it mounts in a wall with about 2 or 3 inches sticking out from the wall. Anyone know if there is a market for this type of item or what it might be worth?
Thanks
mailboxes for apartments - had universal keys for the carrier and owner - very collectible
Hello,
Wasn't looking to get rid of this piece, but has anyone seen one of these sold lately. I'm having a hard time putting a value on it.
Thanks
Dayton Farmer,
This is definitely a wall mounted box used in multi-story buildings such as hotels and office buildings. I have a similar box from a hotel in Texas. Mine has a slot on top thru which mail from upper floors fell into it from a small chute that reached to the top floor.
I, too, am interested in the value of these boxes, and, no, mine is not for sale either. Have you or other readers learned anything about the value of these boxes?

After a lot of research I believe your box and mine are worth from $500 to $1500.
At auction could bring more.
I used the same color as one still in use when I restored mine.
Yours looks like it is all brass and needs to be polished and then could be worth much more than the estimates above. These are very desirable and I have never seen one for sale. Clean it up and hold on to it!
