Slept till noon and then went to a couple listed estate sales. Not much left but did pick up these three beaded clutch purses. Offered $15.00 for all three and so late in the day they said yes. I do not collect beaded purses but all three of these are in like new condition; one even has an etched little mirror in the pocket. The black one is hard to photograph, crushed velvet, looks new, photographs real old. All marked, black one, made in france; white one, richere; the brown one, belgium hudson bay co 1870. Tried eBay and got lost in the 14,903 results found for beaded purses. Was $5.00 each to much for these?
I am not an expert but they are indeed pretty pieces and for $5 a piece I believe you got a real deal.
I too get lost in the pages and pages of internet samples and it become mind boggling.
This show and tell is wonderful tool to help in cases like yours and others.
I just picked up a beaded bag, but unfortunately there is beading missing. I am afraid I may have paid to much!
Thanks, and do not know how much is too much, they had these marked at $40.00 each. It was late in the day and offered $5.00 each. None are missing any beads but that black velvet one from france is impossible to photograph; think it has porcupine quills incorporation or something, reflects light big time, it is a flashy french black velvet purse. With the flash "on" the pictures look like the 4th of july reflecting off those beads. The velvet changes too from high gloss to dull flat black. Might be fur???
I believe you are fortunate to have purchased the purses for $5. They sound like they are high quality items.
Good luck with trying to get good pictures. Photographing items can be very tricky.
Thanks Delia, being a "guy" I do not know much about clutch purses and only purchased them because I liked the beadwork.
